BLS Cert Resources
Rock Medicine's basic clinical requirement is a BLS CPR card* from one of the following institutions:
ASHI - BLS for Healthcare Providers
Please note: Your CPR card must be one of the 3 listed to be accepted and must be current. Some training courses offer cards that "comply with" or are "based off of" AHA ECC Guidelines. Unfortunately, we are not able to accept these certifications or training courses. CPR/First Aid or Heartsaver CPR/AED will not meet these requirements as it is not a healthcare provider certification.
* Physicians currently licensed in the state of California do not need a seperate BLS / CPR certification.
If you have any questions, please contact us prior to taking your course. This will allow us to help you before you spend time and/or money getting certified! We understand that some workplaces such as UC Davis and CalFire issue their own Healthcare Provider CPR cards in lieu of one listed above. If this is the case, please contact us and we'll work with you to determine if it can be accepted.
Northern California BLS Training Providers
Below are reputable BLS training providers and their costs. Please be sure to verify costs and book requirements with the provider directly before signing up as we cannot guarantee these are still accurate. Current, active Rock Medicine volunteers can checkout loaner books to be used for BLS recertification. A list of locations that loaner books are available is in the staff portal, and volunteers can contact the venue manager to arrange a pickup.
Sacramento
$55 for BLS or $75 if you don’t bring a book. If you mention RockMed when you signup and wear a RockMed shirt to the class, you’ll get $5 off.
$55 for BLS including the cost of the book. There is no discount currently offered for RockMed.
Stockton
$46 for BLS or $64 if you don’t bring a book. There is no discount currently offered for RockMed.
East Bay
UC Berkeley MRC
$35 for BLS but you’ll need to bring a book. Books are NOT available to purchase at the class. This price is only available to UC Berkeley students and RockMed.
Santa Cruz
$60 for BLS or $80 if you don’t bring a book. There is no discount currently offered for RockMed.
